    STINGRAYS SWIM TEAM

    SWIM LESSONS - SUMMER 2017

    Our primary goal for members is fitness exercise accomplished in a safe environment. To fullfill our goal, we offer several programs. Twenty-one water aerobic classes and four arthritis classes are offered weekly.

     

    LEVEL 1: INTRO TO WATER SKILLS

    It is recommended the participant be at least 3 years old. With support, front and back floats, open eyes underwater, rolling over front to back, begin arm and leg movements.

     

    LEVEL 3: STROKE DEVELOPMENT 

    The swimmer will perform front and back crawl, begin diving, butterfly kick, and rotary breathing.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    A registration form must be filled out for each child and each session.

    Refunds are made if a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment.

    Credits will be issued for ill children with a doctor’s note.

     

    CHILDREN UNDER 10 MUST BE SUPERVISED BY AN ADULT IN THE POOL AREA.

    A swim test is available for children 12 and under. If the your child passes the test they may use the pool without direct supervision. SEE LIFEGUARD FOR TEST INFORMATION.

     

    Non-Toilet Trained Children must wear a swim diaper when in the pool.

     

    Thunderstorm policy: In the event of a thunderstorm, the pool/spa will close and re-open 30 minutes after the last lightning strike/thunder.

    Our Stingrays are a USA sanctioned swim team that offers a guided age-group youth program for children age 5 and up, from the beginning swimmer to the most competitive and skilled swimmer. Swimmers in our program learn the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and physical, emotional and intellectual skills that will last a lifetime.

    AQUATICS CLASSES

    New Adult Swim Classes

    Clinics are designed to help you improve your swim skills and to demonstrate swimming is an AMAZING sport for fun, fitness, and even competition! Click HERE for more info!

     

    Classes focus on aerobic endurance, resistance training, and creating an enjoyable atmosphere with music.  The use of Aqua equipment such as dumb bells, noodles and jogging vests are incorporated to add versatility to the work out.

     

    Water Aerobics

    The focus is on aerobic endurance, resistance training, and creating an enjoyable atmosphere with music.  The use of Aqua equipment such as dumb bells, noodles and jogging vests are incorporated to add versatility to the work out.

     

    Advanced Water Aerobics

    High- energy interval training. Fast paced controlled movements that will increase cardiovascular stamina as well as build and tone muscles.  The use of aquatic equipment will improve balance, posture and physical awareness.

     

    Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program (AFAP)

    Is a warm water exercise program for people with arthritis and related conditions. Participants engage in stretching, breathing, and light aerobic activities in a comfortable pool to improve flexibility, joint range of motion, endurance, strength, and well-being.

     

    Aqua Zumba

    Low-impact, high-energy aquatic exercise.  Instructors use Latin and international music beats for dance exercise and integrate them in a water-based workout.  Get ready for a dance party… IN THE POOL!!  All fitness levels welcome!

     

    Adult Stoke Clinic

    Designed to help adults enhance their swimming skills through drills and workouts intended to boost stroke efficiency in the water.  3 levels are offered, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.

     

    Aqua Fit

    Utilization of all our resistance equipment.  This class is designed to target all the core muscle groups focusing on increasing strength and mobility. You will learn the proper use of all aquatics fitness equipment and grasp and understanding of muscle groups and training.

     

    Classes are one hour in length and can be modified for all levels.

    Red Cross Certified Instructors provide swim lessons for beginners age 6 months through adult. Swim clinics for more advanced adults and children are given seasonally. Recreational swimming is permitted during non-program hours.

    LEVEL 0: PARENT AND CHILD AQUATICS

    The participants should be 6 months to 3 years of age. Parent accompanies child in water. Designed to teach parent and child to be comfortable in the water.

     

    LEVEL 2: FUNDAMENTAL AQUATIC SKILLS

    Without support, the child will learn coordinated arm and leg movements, tread water, swim under water, glide on front and back, and jump from the side of the pool.

     

    LEVEL 4-5: STROKE IMPROVEMENT/STROKE REFINEMENT

    Refinement of front crawl and back crawl, sidestroke, breaststroke, open turns and flip turns.

    HOMESCHOOL HURRICANES SWIM TEAM

    This program is designed to meet the needs of swimmers wanting professionally coached practices dedicated to improving stroke mechanics an dfocus in the water. Swimmers will practice mindful movement and develop and understanding of balanced, effecient, and fast swimming. Mastering the basics and building upon them creates successful swimmers for life!

     

    (6) week sessions will include a supplemental video component to demonstrate and reinforce the skill progressions in practice. These weekly focal points will be distributed via electronic distribution and utilized as curriculum for skill development. Mastering the basics and building upon them creates successful swimmers for lifetime with the sport!

     

    Beginner

    Tuesdays & Thursdays: 12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.

    This level is suitable for kids who may or may not know all (4) stokes, but swim independently. Kids are comfortable in the water and want to build their skills and confidence.

     

    Advanced

    Tuesdays & Thursdays: 12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.

    This level is best for kids competent in all (4) strokes and able to apply focus within an organized practice and learning development.
